‘Bright’ – Trailer for Upcoming Will Smith Cop Movie with a Twist

Director David Ayer brings his grounded, gritty style to this upcoming Will Smith cop film that bizarrely blends the real world with fantasy land.

In a world where Humans, Orcs, Fairies and other mythical creatures live alongside each other, a human cop (Will Smith) is assigned a new Orc partner (Joel Edgerton), as the two are forced to work together to find a weapon that everyone is prepared to kill for.

That weapon – a magic wand that grants whomever holds it, any wish they desire.

Explaining all of that sounds pretty ridiculous if you ask me, and seeing the trailer for this film confirms that ridiculousness.

The film mixes gritty realism with fantasy elements, which I’m just not quite sold on yet – it all just felt a bit too strange.

However, the concept does feel somewhat unique, and the film boasts an awesome cast, so it’s still definitely one to see.

Bright will be available exclusively to Netflix subscribers as one of its Original properties, and is due out on the small screen in December 2017.

It’s just the next step in Netflix’s evolution in producing large-scale films, with A-list talent.

Will Smith once again pairs with his Suicide Squad (2016 – see my review here) director in this one, and he’s joined by Australia’s own Joel Edgerton, along with Noomi Rapace and Edgar Ramirez.

Judging by the trailer, the film looks like it will tackle themes of racial acceptance in a more fantastical, subtle way (if you could call it that).

Check out the trailer below and let us know in the comments if this concept works for you.
