Amy Adams stars in the upcoming mystery film The Woman in the Window and its first trailer will have you guessing what’s real and what isn’t.
Adams plays an agoraphobic woman who never leaves her house, though has a tendency to spy on her neighbors.
She befriends one of her neighbors (Julianne Moore) and soon after witnesses her death from across the road.
Things aren’t what they seem, however, when the police get involved and suggest that Adams’ character never even met her neighbor, let alone saw her get murdered.
The Woman in the Window is based on the book of the same name by author A. J. Finn and is directed by Joe Wright, whose credits include Darkest Hour (2017), Pan (2015) and Anna Karenina (2012).
Judging by the trailer, the film looks as though it will full of twists and turns, as viewers are not expected to know who or what’s real in any given moment.
It has all the hallmarks of a great murder-mystery film led by a flawed protagonist.
Adams and the rest of the cast that includes Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie, Wyatt Russell, Brian Tyree Henry, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and the previously mentioned Julianne Moore all appear to be in top form.
The Woman in the Window, with its intriguing premise and excellent cast, looks like one to put on your radar in 2020.
It releases on 15 May 2020.
