The new documentary Mystify Michael Hutchence gives viewers an intimate look at the life of the iconic INXS frontman, Michael Hutchence.
Mystify, from director Richard Lowenstein, takes us on a journey into the life of a complex and shy person who was thrust into the public eye after making it big with his band, INXS.
The documentary film features rare archival footage along with insights from friends, colleagues, lovers as well as Hutchence himself.
The film looks like it will go pretty deep into the singer’s life which should make for some intriguing viewing for all INXS fans, as well as anyone interested in tragic stories about rockstars who left us too soon, of which, sadly, there are many examples.
The troubled singer/songwriter infamously lost his life back in 1997 after being found dead in a hotel room due to suicide by hanging (though no note was left behind), at the age of 37.
His death undoubtedly shocked the world and was a huge loss for the industry and Australian music culture.
Lowenstein directed most of both INXS and Michael’s music videos as well as the 1986 feature film, Dogs in Space, which starred Hutchence in the lead role, so we can trust the film will be an authentic tribute to the late frontman.
Tickets are currently on sale for preview screenings and Q&As with Richard Lowenstein starting from June 6 – 24.
You can book tickets for your state here.
Mystify Michael Hutchence will hit cinemas Australia-wide from 4 July 2019.
