With the impending release of The Fate of the Furious, it’s only fitting we publish the latest Honest Trailer for The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
The Fast & Furious series of films will be releasing its 8th movie in a few days, so it made sense for the Honest Trailer team to cover one of the weaker films in the series.
Realistically, every one of the Fast films has enough material to make fun of, though Tokyo Drift probably takes the cake as the entry with the most cringeworthy, eye-rolling moments.
Tokyo Drift was the third film in the series and didn’t feature any of the cast of the first two films, and was also not directly related to them.
Instead it starred Lucas Black in the lead role, who makes Vin Diesel look like an Oscar-winner level actor.
For all the film’s faults though, it still served as a reasonably entertaining piece of action cinema, and it spawned a further 5 sequels, so how bad could it have really been?
The film’s director Justin Lin went on to direct another 3 films in the series, as well as 2016’s Star Trek Beyond, so if anything, Tokyo Drift solidified his career as an A-grade action film director.
Check out the 8th instalment of the franchise, The Fate of the Furious in cinemas in Australia from April 12.
