Young Ghostbusters are Born in ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ Trailer

A new generation of young Ghostbusters is teased in the latest trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

A single mother and her two kids move to a small town where they inherit a run-down old home, once owned by a famous Ghostbuster.

The home doesn’t contain much, except there’s a battered old station wagon with a famous logo as well as some unique, ghost-fighting tools.

Teens Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) form a new, young Ghostbusters squad after discovering their town is the epicentre of what looks like a ghost invasion.

Directed by Ivan Reitman, this latest instalment of the decades-long franchise looks like it features all of the charms of the original 1984 classic with an up-and-coming, exciting young cast and a tone and sensibility that’s relatable to modern audiences.

Afterlife looks like a step in the right direction for the franchise following the heavily criticised 2016 reboot from director Paul Heig.

As is usually the case these days with any blockbuster launch, be it a reboot or an original IP, the first film always serves as a setup for multiple sequels.

Such is the case here, too, with Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace poised to reprise their roles in future films and carry on the franchise.

There’s also something in this for the original fans, with franchise stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver set to appear in the film.

Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon also feature, and the film is due for release on 2 December 2021.
