Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin talk about the secret underworld of cartels and provide more details on the plot of Sicario: Day of the Soldado.
In Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Benicio Del Toro’s character Alejandro is tasked with kidnapping the young daughter of an opposing drug cartel boss.
Things get dangerous when Alejandro forms a bond with the girl, one that stems from his own history of losing a daughter to a rival cartel.
This is the main plot point revealed in the new video featurette for the upcoming Sicario (2015) sequel.
Del Toro and Josh Brolin reprise their roles in this follow-up to Denis Villeneuve’s gritty first film, with Stefano Sollima taking over directing duties.
The first film’s original writer, Taylor Sheridan, is back on board in the same capacity, so we can be sure to expect another tense, thrilling, and violent crime drama, which has become synonymous with Sheridan’s works to date.
Sheridan also wrote the crime drama Hell or High Water (2016) and wrote and directed the hugely underrated Wind River (2017).
The film also stars Isabela Moner, Catherine Keener, Matthew Modine and Jeffrey Donovan, and is due for release on 28 June 2018.
