Disturbing Trailer for Lars Von Trier’s Latest ‘The House That Jack Built’

Matt Dillon and Uma Thurman star in the first trailer for the disturbing film The House that Jack Built, from cerebral horror master Lars von Trier.

Matt Dillon plays the serial killer Jack, as we follow his serial killing exploits over the course of 12 years, while reflecting on existential and social issues along the way.

The themes that are hinted at in the trailer felt a bit too discernible for a Lars von Trier film, as his films are often left open to interpretation, though there’ll surely be some surprises along the way for fans.

For those unfamiliar with the controversial, yet virtuoso Danish director, Von Trier is well known for his thought-provoking, disturbing dramas, the likes of which include Antichrist (2009), Melancholia (2011) and the Nymphomaniac (2013) films.

His films are the type that you’ll either love or hate, but no matter which way you’re inclined after watching one, you won’t easily forget the experience.

It looks like The House that Jack Built will follow in the same trend as Von Trier’s past films, with plenty of violence and discomforting pacing.

Bruno Ganz and Riley Keough co-star alongside Dillon and Thurman, and the film is set to make its debut at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

The film should pick up global distribution shortly afterwards, with release dates to follow.
