Elisabeth Moss plays a woman who is stalked by a violent, invisible man in the upcoming Blumhouse film, The Invisible Man.
Moss stars as Cecilia, who after learning of the suicide of her abusive ex-boyfriend, begins to sense that he’s not actually dead when strange and violent things begin to happen around her.
Her sanity is brought into question as no one else can see the invisible man, who has seemingly figured out a way to keep on living in an invisible state post-death, on a quest to torment his old flame.
Produced by Blumhouse Productions and based on the Universal Classic Monster of the same name, which was in turn based on The Invisible Man book by author H.G. Wells looks like a thrilling romp into the deep-set terror of the unknown.
Often is the case in horror films where the unseen threat is scarier than what’s in front of you, and director Leigh Whannell is aiming to target that fear in his audience.
I found the psychological aspects of the film to be the most intriguing and hope the director has found a way to keep the tension high once the Invisible Man starts to do his thing.
Australian director Leigh Whannell was one of the co-creators of the horror franchise Saw (2004-) alongside James Wan and has gone on to direct a couple of films of his own, including the mostly-poorly received Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) and the highly underrated gem, Upgrade (2018).
He’s a highly capable writer/director/producer so I’m staying optimistic about this one.
With Blumhouse behind the scenes also, we could in for a rare horror treat when the film arrives on 28 February 2020.
