The evil doll Annabelle is back and ready to haunt and claim the souls of her unsuspecting victims in the second trailer for Annabelle Comes Home.
When you have an evil, murderous and haunted doll, the best thing to do, it seems, is to lock it up in a glass cabinet and have it blessed by a priest.
Or at least that’s what Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) believe, but soon find out it’s simply not enough after Annabelle manages to escape and begins to terrorize the couple’s young daughter and her friends.
Set in The Conjuring (2013-) universe and following on from Annabelle (2014) and Annabelle: Creation (2017), this third entry appears to deliver audiences more of the same.
The same tone, cheap thrills and horror movie clichés found in most mainstream horrors these days.
While there is a susceptible audience for these types of horrors, true horror fans won’t find much in this one as it’s nothing they haven’t seen before.
The film could still have some redeeming qualities, especially with the return of Wilson and Farmiga in roles that they’ve become synonymous with for some people now, and the two stars are always entertaining to watch.
Unfortunately, based on what we’ve seen in the trailers for this one so far, there may not be much else to look forward to.
Annabelle Comes Home hits cinemas on 27 June 2019.
