Modern horror’s creepiest doll returns to screens in Annabelle 2, with a new announcement trailer released today.
The teaser below gives us a small indication of what to expect in the film and features Miranda Otto in what appears to be the lead role.
The film is directed by David F. Sandberg, who most recently directed the successful horror film Lights Out.
The Annabelle film series is a spinoff of James Wan’s Conjuring films, featuring the demonic doll.
I didn’t mind the Conjuring films, but though the first Annabelle film was below average.
A lot of these new mainstream horror films feel like they came straight off the production line, as they often fail to push the boundaries of the genre, reverting to common tropes found in most horror films.
It’s a shame when you consider Wan is leading the pack in modern-horror, and I want to see him produce something unique and terrifying, like he did when he released the first Saw film.
Either way, it’s good to see that a couple of Australians are leading the cast in this sequel, with Miranda Otto and Anthony LaPaglia set to star.
We’ll have to wait until 19 May 2017 to see how this one fares.
IMDB Synopsis:
Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.
