The new trailer for the Sony/Marvel collab animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse features a bevy of new Spider-people from alternate universes.

Into the Spider-Verse focuses on Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), a kid from Brooklyn, also known as the superhero – Spider-Man.

However, Morales soon finds out that he is not the only Spider-person out there after a portal to multiple parallel dimensions is opened.

As featured in the new trailer below, Morales will meet alternate versions of Spider-Man that include the classic Peter Parker (Jake Johnson) version, Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), Spider-Man Noir (Nic Cage) and Spider-Ham (John Mulaney).

All the different Spider-people will need to team up to take down The Kingpin (Liev Schreiber) and others from Spider-Man rogues’ gallery to stop the destruction of the city home to Morales and his family.

As originally highlighted in the film’s first trailer, the animation style featured here is rather unique, and it looks stunning!

It’s like a unique blend of classic 2D animation with 3D elements, and it appears to work really well.

To boot, the film has a humorous charm to it and plenty of action.

Into the Spider-Verse is a cross-production between Sony and Marvel and comes from the creative minds of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who serve as producers.

Fans will recognise those names from films like The Lego Movie (2015) and 21 Jump Street (2012).

Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman direct.

The film hits cinemas on 13 December 2018.
