Disney’s Jungle Cruise gets an action-packed new trailer featuring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.
Based on the popular theme park ride, Disney’s Jungle Cruise follows an adventurer (Blunt) embark on a journey down the Amazon River to find a magical tree with medicinal properties that will change the world.
She’s joined by captain Frank (Johnson), whose dilapidated boat takes them on an adventure battling dangerous jungle animals and supernatural beings.
Jungle Cruise features the style of action Disney movies have become synonymous with; colourful, magical, and over-the-top.
There’s also a huge Pirates of the Caribbean (2003) vibe, so fans of that franchise should be pleased.
Anyone looking for a unique plot and original take on a concept may need to look elsewhere, however, as while the film seems like a lot of fun, it doesn’t seem to bring anything new to Disney’s slate of family action-adventure films.
Nevertheless, Jungle Cruise will surely be an entertaining, easy watch, and there’s always time for movies like that.
The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, whose past credits include The Shallows (2016) and the underrated Non-Stop (2014) starring Liam Neeson.
The director is also at the helm of the upcoming DCEU film Black Adam (2022), starring Dwayne Johnson.
Check out Jungle Cruise in cinemas from 29 July 2021 and on Disney+ with Premier Access* from 20 July.
