wonder woman 2 movie

It’s official – the previously announced Wonder Woman 2 is on its way (no surprises there – when a film makes $822 million, you make another) with Warner Bros. announcing the commencement of production on the highly anticipated follow up.

The sequel to last year’s superhero hit is called Wonder Woman 1984 and will see the return of director Patty Jenkins alongside star Gal Gadot in the title role.

Jenkins and Gadot shared the first two images of the new movie on social media this week, giving us our first look at Chris Pine as Steve Trevor and, of course, Wonder Woman herself.

So, what’s the sequel about?

Fast forward to the 1980’s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah.

Kristen Wiig has joined the cast to play The Cheetah alongside Pedro Pascal, who will also star in an as yet undisclosed role.

Wonder Woman 1984 is due to hit the big screen on 1 November 2019 and is based on the character created by William Moulton Marston.

The film will be shot in Washington, D.C., Alexandria, Virginia, and in the UK, Spain and the Canary Islands.

Last year’s Wonder Woman (2017) broke all kinds of records at the box office, becoming the top grossing superhero origin movie both domestically and worldwide, while also earning the title of highest grossing live-action film ever directed by a woman.

It followed princess of the Amazons Diana Prince, aka. Wonder Woman, as she leaves her home to fight alongside man in a war to end all wars.

A film tragic from way back, the only thing I love more than watching movies is writing about them! Deserted Island Movie Collection: I'd take David Fincher's catalogue of films for sure. No one sucks me into the world of the film quite like Fincher does. Best Movie Snack: Chocolate, without a doubt!
