Wonder Woman 1984 sees Gal Gadot reprise her role as the fan-favourite DC Comics heroine in this upcoming sequel from director Patty Jenkins.
All we know from the film’s first official trailer is that it’s set in 1984, but we knew this a while back.
The trailer for WW84 does not give up any of the finer plot details, and outside of the time period it’s set in, all we get is a look at the return of Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) from the first film, as well as Pedro Pascal’s villain character, Max Lord.
We also see Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva, who later goes on to become the supervillain Cheetah, though there’s no costume reveal for her.
The trailer also features a bit of action from the film, which has kept in line with the first Wonder Woman (2017) film as well as other DC entries (the slow-mo action trope is back).
Being set in the disco era, the film has plenty of 80’s razzle-dazzle all throughout which is a nice touch, if not a bit on-the-nose.
Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright also return and reprise their roles as Hippolyta and Antiope from the first film.
Wonder Woman 1984 looks like another hit in-the-making for DC and we’ll know for sure when it releases on 4 June 2020.
