Literal bloodsuckers as well as metaphorical ones feature in the new Netflix horror-comedy film, Vampires vs. the Bronx.
A group of teens must save the Bronx from vampires and gentrification in this new Netflix horror-comedy, set for release in time for Halloween.
The story brings forth an interesting allegory about having the life sucked out of a distinct neighborhood such as New York’s The Bronx through the gentrification process.
In this case, the most popular movie monsters, vampires, are used as a symbol for affluent types coming into towns full of character and charm and sucking the life out of it, whilst potentially displacing the people that give it said character and charm.
All this told in a humorous, and it appears, not super-scary fashion, but entertaining nevertheless.
Vampires vs. the Bronx is directed by Osmany Rodriguez, whose past credits include the popular comedy TV shows A.P. Bio and The Last Man on Earth, so the humor should be on point here.
The film looks like a lot of fun, and the perfect way to kick of a series of horror flicks coming throughout October in time for Halloween, the likes of which include Welcome to the Blumhouse anthology for Amazon Prime and another potential Netflix hit in Adam Sandler’s Hubie Halloween.
Check out Vampires vs. the Bronx from 2 October 2020.
