An ambitious government staffer sets out to uncover the truth behind the CIA’s interrogation methods post 9/11 in the thrilling new film, The Report.
Adam Driver plays Daniel J. Jones, a senate staffer who’s given the job to investigate the CIA’s interrogation and detention program post the September 11 attacks, where he uncovers a shocking world of secrets and coverups.
The film is based on actual events and talks about the truth behind the inhumane treatment of alleged terror suspects by the American government.
The film’s title refers to a ‘torture report’, which outlines the waterboarding torture methods the government used on suspects, amongst other shocking secrets.
The Report is produced by Steven Soderbergh, whose influence can clearly be seen in the trailer, and it’s directed by Scott Z. Burns, who is also a long-time Soderbergh collaborator.
These political thrillers are somewhat of a niche sub-genre, fans of which should be pleased with this upcoming film.
It looks like Z. Burns has hit the mark on the dramatic elements of the film and Driver looks to be in top form.
The film features an outstanding cast of supporting actors that include Jon Hamm, Michael C. Hall, Tim Blake Nelson, Corey Stoll, and Maura Tierney.
It’s due for release on 15 November 2019 in theatres, and shortly after on Prime Video.
