Cate Blanchett stars in the new drama/comedy/mystery film from acclaimed director Richard Linklater, Where’d You Go, Bernadette.
Her family is forced to go on an exciting adventure once Bernadette mysteriously disappears in order to find her.
Where’d You Go, Bernadette is an adaptation of the best-selling 2012 novel of the same name from author Maria Semple.
The novel is seen from the perspective of Bernadette’s daughter Bee (played here by Emma Nelson), as she tries to track her mother’s whereabouts while discovering her troubled past in the process.
The first trailer doesn’t reveal whether or not the film will follow Bee’s perspective, though it’s likely to be the case.
The film’s tone feels relatively lighthearted, so one can assume that there aren’t any dark or disturbing elements to this mystery (having not read the book).
Richard Linklater is still one of the most acclaimed directors in
His past credits include films like the cult classics Dazed and Confused (1993) and the Before Sunrise (1995-2013) trilogy.
More recently he directed the Oscar-winning film Boyhood (2014) and the funny Everybody Wants Some!! (2016).
Where’d You Go, Bernadette co-stars the always reliable Billy Crudup, Kristen Wiig, Judy Greer, Laurence Fishburne and Emma Nelson.
It’s due out in cinemas on 22 March 2019.
