The first teaser trailer has dropped for Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, the sequel to the 2015 Jack Black-starring Goosebumps.
Plot details are still under wraps, however, we can see from the trailer that two young friends discover R.L. Stine’s Haunted Halloween book, which in turn appears to once again unleash the author’s creations to wreak havoc on the town and frighten the film’s protagonists.
Stine’s popular kids’ book series has sold over a whopping 400 million copies since its inception in 1992.
The first Goosebumps film for a modern audience saw Jack Black star and brought in $150 million USD worldwide.
It’s not the type of figures that would warrant a sequel, but considering the enormity of the fan-base, it’s no surprise Sony Pictures has decided to go ahead with it anyway.
And plus, Jack Black, and (what one must assume) his large paycheck is missing from this new film, saving the studio some money.
Instead, the film features a mostly unknown cast that includes Wendi McLendon-Covey, Madison Iseman, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Caleel Harris, Chris Parnell, and Ken Jeong.
R.L. Stine’s creations will again appear in large numbers here, some of which you can see in the trailer.
The family-adventure film is due to hit cinemas on 25 October 2018, appropriately in time for Halloween.
