Paul Verhoeven’s sci-fi classic Total Recall starring Arnold Schwarzenegger has received a brand new 4K restoration.

The 1990 classic science-fiction film Total Recall will be re-released around the world in a new, 4K ultra high-definition format.

The film from acclaimed director Paul Verhoeven of Robocop (1987) and Starship Troopers (1997) fame featured Hollywood’s leading action star of the time, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and became an instant cult classic following its release.

Schwarzenegger plays a man who goes on a virtual vacation to Mars, while assuming the identity of a wanted man.

Soon after, reality begins to blur with the implanted memories in his mind, and we never know for sure whether his adventures are happening for real or are part of the narrative he’s signed up for.

This element and the film’s socio-political commentary, along with its colorful characters and Arnold one-liners is what makes Total Recall genius, and a bonafide classic of the genre.

Studiocanal has restored the film in stunning 4K to celebrate its 30th anniversary, and screenings are scheduled to take place around the world over the coming weeks.

A new poster has also been created by esteemed artist Kyle Lambert, who has designed some amazing pieces recently, including the popular artwork for TV’s Stranger Things.

Total Recall will see its Australian theatrical release at Monster Fest 2020 on 29 October.

It will be followed up by a home video release in Australia and New Zealand on 25 November 2020, with the Blu-Ray and DVD containing exclusive bonus features.
