Cult hero Tommy Wiseau stars in this hilarious video for American fashion chain Urban Outfitters, and it highlights his eccentricities perfectly.
Those that have been following the site would have gathered by now that we’re big fans of Tommy Wiseau and The Room (2003), so when Geek Tyrant posted this gem of a video recently, I had to share it.
The video is a one-minute commercial promoting the American holiday Memorial Day, from fashion chain Urban Outfitters, and it features the cult hero in all his quirky glory.
The Room fans will instantly pick up on the references to the film in this ad, and it’s good to see Wiseau poking fun at himself.
The 2003 cult film that was written and directed by Wiseau is widely recognised as one of the worst films of all time, but has managed to find success in the cult circuit and for good reason – it’s one of the funniest movies you’ll ever see.
Whether or not the director intended for the film to be funny is up for debate, but it’s believed that the film was meant to be a serious drama.
The making of The Room is the subject of an upcoming film which is directed by, and stars James Franco in the lead role as Wiseau, called The Disaster Artist (check out the trailer here).
That film is based on a book of the same name, written by Room co-lead Greg Sestero, which is also hilarious.
Check out the funny video below while all Room fans eagerly await the release of The Disaster Artist on 30 November 2017.
