Theo James and Forest Whitaker Star in Netflix Disaster Film ‘How it Ends’

Theo James and Forest Whitaker play a father and son-in-law who are forced to put their differences aside for a greater purpose when an apocalyptic event hits home.

Will (Theo James) and his wife’s father Tom (Forest Whitaker) have a tumultuous relationship, however, when an apocalyptic event of unknown origin hits the nation, the two team up for a dangerous road-trip to find Will’s wife, who is alone, scared and pregnant, some 2,000 miles away.

The most intriguing thing about the trailer for this film is that the apocalyptic event that’s teased is not explicitly explained, but rather we know that it’s happening due to the widespread devastation in the background.

The film appears to be trying to set a mysterious tone in that regard, using fear of the unknown, as well as public pandemonium to further build the tension and paranoia of the film’s setting.

Throw in the classic buddy-aspect of the unlikely lead duo, and we could have a great sci-fi action-thriller on our hands.

How it Ends is directed by David M. Rosenthal, whose past directing credits include lesser-known films such as A Single Shot (2013) and more recently, The Perfect Guy (2015).

Based on Rosenthal’s history, there’s nothing to suggest that this film will hit the mark, other than the somewhat mysterious tone it’s going for, and the drawing power of its leads.

Find out on 13 July 2018, when How it Ends drops on Netflix.
