Stephen King’s ‘Pet Sematary’ Remake Trailer Has Dropped!

pet sematary 2019 trailer

With the huge success of IT last year, it was inevitable that more of author Stephen King’s material was coming our way on the big screen.

This time around is a remake of the 1989 adaptation Pet Sematary, which is arguably one of the better book-to-screen translations of King’s work.

This remake looks like it shows promise, with a strong cast including the ever-reliable John Lithgow and Australian actor Jason Clarke.

Topping it off, up-and-coming filmmakers Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer, whose debut Starry Eyes (2014) was an unexpected surprise, seem like they’re in their element here.

Those who are unfamiliar with Pet Sematary, it follows a family that moves into a new house only to discover a pet cemetery nearby – a place where once an animal is buried, will come back to life – but not in the same way they were before.

The original is considered somewhat of a cult classic, especially the infamous ‘Zelda’ scene, so it will be interesting to see if this version can somehow trump it.

This remake is also meant to be more faithful to King’s novel, which is just as much a family drama about coping with loss, as it is a horror story.

Judging by the trailer, the film looks as though it maintains a creepy feel with odd imagery, which might just be enough to whet the appetite for any horror fan.

The film is due out on 4 April 2019.
