The new one-minute trailer gives us a glimpse at the new Imagine Dragons track ‘Levitate’ that will feature in the film, along with some pretty visuals.
Marketing is in full swing for this film now, and this latest trailer appears to have been released solely just to promote the new song from Imagine Dragons.
It sets a slightly different tone compared to the full trailer that was released for the film (see it here), which showcased a fair bit of drama in the film, compared to this new trailer which makes the film come off as an ultra-mainstream love story set in space.
I’m looking forward to this one as it features two of the most in-demand talents in Hollywood at the moment in Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, so I really hope it’s not a disappointment.
The film is due out on 1 January 2017 in Australia, which is just around the corner so it’s best to hold off judgement until the film has been seen.
It’s directed by Morten Tyldum, the Oscar-nominated director of 2014’s The Imitation Game, which I thought fell a bit flat towards the end, even though the direction was fine.
Passengers has all the required elements to make for an entertaining modern sci-fi film, so fingers crossed Tyldum and crew can get there.
The official synopsis for the film is as follows:
Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are two passengers onboard a spaceship transporting them to a new life on another planet. The trip takes a deadly turn when their hibernation pods mysteriously wake them 90 years before they reach their destination. As Jim and Aurora try to unravel the mystery behind the malfunction, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… only to be threatened by the imminent collapse of the ship and the discovery of the truth behind why they woke up.
