Hans Zimmer is a renowned German composer who over the course of his career, has created over 150 soundtracks and movie scores.
A movie score can truly make or break a film, and a great score will further help viewers sink into the viewing experience. While there are some films where you don’t pay much attention to the score, there are others where the soundtrack leaves a lasting impression. These are some films I believe were made extraordinary by the amazing work of Hans Zimmer.
The Lion King (1994)
The Lion King is an animated movie that Hans Zimmer composed for. Zimmer even won an Academy Award for Best Original Score. The music helped along the twists and turns throughout the film, and gave us a sense of what the characters must have been feeling. Those who have seen this Disney flick will all agree that the music truly makes The Lion King great.
The Prince of Egypt (1998)
The Prince of Egypt is another animated film, released by DreamWorks, which tells the story of Moses (Val Kilmer) and his journey to leading the children of Israel out of Egypt. This is one of the first movies I watched as a child that wasn’t all rainbows and ponies. It was moving, it was hard to watch at times and it was magical. Hans Zimmer created the score for this film, and the music really helps tell the story, as well as invoke an array of different feelings while viewing.

Gladiator (2000)
Gladiator is an epic historical film directed by Ridley Scott. The film follows a Roman soldier named Maximus (Russell Crowe), who finds himself subjected to great adversities such as slavery. The movie is beautifully written, acted and filmed, but again I believe this movie would not be as touching without the score created by Zimmer. The music helps viewers forget that they are watching a historical drama, and instead feel like they are watching the fall and rise of one man. Zimmer helped this film go from great to a masterpiece.
Inception (2010)
Inception is a science-fiction film that is written, co-producted and directed by Christopher Nolan. The movie is incredibly stunning with amazing special effects and remarkable visuals. All of the actors step up to play in this film, but I believe the true hero is the musical score created by Hans Zimmer. The music is sad, electronic, dense and nostalgic all at once and will give viewers an experience like no other.
