The gory Italian horror film A Classic Horror Story stays true to its namesake and references many other popular horror films that have come before it.
The film follows five carpooling strangers who become lost in the woods after crashing their motorhome into a tree.
They discover a suspicious house in the middle of the woods that looks like it harbours some terrifying secrets, and the group soon find themselves fighting for their lives.
A Classic Horror Story promises to be just that but told in a refreshing way.
The film is inspired by several horror movies and we can see the trailer references elements of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Midsommar (2019), The Cabin in the Woods (2011), Wrong Turn (2021), The Evil Dead (1981), and more.
The film’s characters even talk about feeling like they’re stuck in a horror movie, so it’s obvious this film is self-aware, though it does promise to show audiences these classic horror tropes in new ways.
Whether or not directors Roberto De Feo and Paolo Strippoli can fulfil their promise remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure, we can expect some brutal horror in this one.
There are plenty of dark, disturbing, and horrific visuals in the trailer along with gruesome violence, basically, all the aspects that make for an exciting horror film.
Check out the new Italian horror film A Classic Horror Story on Netflix from 14 July 2021.
