Eli Roth’s ‘The House with a Clock in its Walls’ – Trailer

The House with a Clock in its Walls trailer

The House with a Clock in its Walls is an upcoming fantasy/horror film from director Eli Roth, and it’s not what you would normally expect from a director known for their ultra-violent films.

The film follows the young orphan boy Lewis (Owen Vaccaro), as he arrives at a strange house to help his uncle (played by Jack Black) locate a clock with the power to end the world.

The film looks like a kid-friendly horror film, which is the complete opposite of what you’d expect to see from the director of such disturbing torture-porn films like Hostel (2005) and The Green Inferno (2013).

It could mean that Roth is attempting a shift into the mainstream, or he’s simply trying his hand at it to mix up his style.

In any case, the trailer doesn’t reveal too much, as we’re given a small look at the film’s principal cast of characters, that also includes Cate Blanchett.

The gothic-horror theme of the film has been well conceived from the little we can see in the trailer, though there’s not much more that can be said about it until we can see more footage.

Judge it for yourself in the trailer below, and leave a comment with your thoughts.

The House with a Clock in its Walls is due for release on 21 September 2018 in the USA.
