The popular Toy Story regular Buzz Lightyear gets his own film in the upcoming Disney/Pixar animation, Lightyear.
Lightyear follows the adventures of the space adventurer, Buzz Lightyear, made famous in 1995’s groundbreaking animated film Toy Story.
Since then, Buzz has appeared in several sequels and shorts, but this is the first time a character from Toy Story has received an origin film.
The teaser trailer below only gives us minor glimpses into what we can expect, and it looks like there’ll be plenty of space travel and planet-hopping.
The film will recount the fictional backstory of the famous spaceman toy, but we’re not how the plot will fit into the overall Toy Story canon at this stage.
The animation is gorgeous like most other Disney/Pixar films, and this one will undoubtedly feature an inspirational storyline to complement it.
Tim Allen has famously voiced Buzz Lightyear for the last 25 years, but in this instance, Chris Evans steps in to play a younger version of the character.
No other voice talent has been announced yet.
Lightyear is directed by Angus MacLane, who co-directed Finding Dory (2016), and is due for release in June 2022.
