‘Denial’ – Trailer for New Rachel Weisz Drama Film

Rachel Weisz Denial

Rachel Weisz stars as historian Deborah E. Lipstadt in a true story about the court battle between her and Holocaust denier David Irving (Timothy Spall).

I was unaware of this story altogether until seeing the trailer for this film, and it’s one that sounds outrageous, but perfect for a courtroom drama film.

David Irving (played here by a noticeably slimmed down Timothy Spall) accuses and sues Deborah E. Lipstadt for libel, claiming that the events of the Holocaust never took place.

Judging by the trailer for this film, it looks as though director Mick Jackson has given fair coverage to both sides of the story, as preposterous as one side seems to be.

It should make for some intriguing viewing, especially for fans of courtroom dramas.

It looks as though Denial will end up being more than just that though, as it’s obvious by the trailer that the film expands outside the courtroom as the investigation unfolds.

This is Mick Jackson’s first feature film in 14 years, with his biggest claim to fame being his directing efforts on 1992’s The Bodyguard, with Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.

That film became an instant classic, so it will be interesting to see what Jackson can conjure up here, after being relatively quiet since then career-wise.

Denial stars Rachel Weisz, Timothy Spall and Tom Wilkinson, and it hits Australian cinemas on 13 April 2017.
