Matt Dillon Cast in Lars Von Trier’s New Film

Lars Von Trier’s next film The House That Jack Built (2018) has revealed its leads in Matt Dillon and Bruno Ganz, with Dillon set to play Jack the Ripper.

The film will follow the course of 12 years in the life of the notorious serial killer Jack the Ripper, as we see how he progresses through the multitude of murders he commits, in an effort to create the ultimate (murderous) artwork.

The character has been portrayed numerous amounts of times in film and TV and throughout pop culture, however under Von Trier’s creative control, we’re definitely in store for something unique, and most certainly disturbing.

For anyone that hasn’t seen Lars Von Trier’s work before, the term ‘disturbing’ is a bit of an understatement, especially with a film such as 2009’s Antichrist starring the super-talented actors Willem DaFoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

To be fair, that’s one of his more extreme films, with his other more recent projects like Nymphomaniac 1 & 2 (2013) and Melancholia (2011) not being as hard to watch – but still hard.

Nevertheless, his films are requisite viewing for anyone that calls themselves film buffs.

The director has worked with a huge array of talent over the years, so it’s nice to see him cast Matt Dillon in the lead role of his new film.

Dillon was all the rage back in the 90’s, but has dropped off the radar in the last decade or so, losing his drawing power in Hollywood.

He is however a very talented actor that deserves some more high profile roles, so maybe this film could see him land some larger roles in mainstream films moving forward.

The House That Jack Built is due for release in 2018 and aside from Matt Dillon and Bruno Ganz, no other casting announcements have been made yet.
