The official trailer for the upcoming comedy film Bastards has been released, starring Owen Wilson, Ed Helms, J.K. Simmons and Glenn Close.
Owen Wilson and Ed Helms play brothers, on the search for their long lost father.
Judging by the trailer, the film definitely has that Todd Phillips, Hangover/Due Date/War Dogs vibe to it, which is no coincidence when considering the film is directed by Lawrence Sher, who makes his directorial debut after coming from a background as a cinematographer on several comedy films, including Phillips’ War Dogs and The Hangover films.
Having worked with such exceptional comedic talent like Phillips in the past, you’d imagine that Sher would have received a great working education in comedy film-production, so this could end up being pretty good, however it’s never easy for a cinematographer to make the jump to the director’s chair.
A good example is when Christopher Nolan’s cinematographer Wally Pfister switched roles to direct the abysmal Transcendence with Johnny Depp.
Bastards is due out for release on 27 January 2017 in the USA.
IMDB Synopsis:
Upon learning that their mother has been lying to them for years about their allegedly deceased father, two fraternal twin brothers hit the road in order to find him.
