Frances McDormand Aiming for Oscar-Win Trilogy with Latest ‘Nomadland’

Frances McDormand new movie

Frances McDormand looks like a chance to pick up her third Best Actress Oscar with her performance in Chloé Zhao’s new drama film, Nomadland.

McDormand plays Fern, a woman who decides to live on the open road after suffering a huge financial loss when the company she works for shuts down.

Navigating through the American West with nothing but her van as shelter, Fern meets many other modern-day nomads on her journey while coming to realize the true value of life.

The film looks like a deeply profound exploration of the human spirit, and what it means to soldier-on after a life setback.

We can see that Fern was employed in an Amazon fulfillment center, which presumably came into her hometown in rural Nevada with the promise of jobs, but then after shutting down, took just as many jobs away from the people, who were essentially left with nothing afterward.

It’s not an uncommon occurrence and serves as the catalyst for Fern’s journey into the nomadic lifestyle.

Frances McDormand looks sensational in this role and is sure to be a contender to take home her third Best Actress Oscar at the 2021 Academy Awards, after having two prior wins in the same category for Fargo (1996), and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017).

She is already one of the greatest actresses to grace the silver screen, but a third Oscar-win would put her in the elite of the elite in the industry.

Nomadland will see a preview run from Boxing Day and then hit cinemas on 4 March 2021.
