Dave Franco makes his directorial debut with the intriguing new horror film The Rental starring Alison Brie and Dan Stevens.
Two couples vacation at a holiday rental property when they begin to suspect their host may be spying on them.
The situation causes tension between the couples as things begin to spiral out of control.
Dave Franco makes his directorial debut with The Rental and it looks as though he’s hit the mark on the film’s tone, producing an atmospheric and creepy horror film.
Franco’s real-life partner and star of TV’s Community and GLOW, Alison Brie, leads the cast alongside Downton Abbey, The Guest (2014), and Beauty and the Beast (2017) star Dan Stevens.
Sheila Vand and Jeremy Allen White round out the principal cast with character-actor Toby Huss cast perfectly in the villain role.
Franco also serves as a co-writer on the film with Joe Swanberg, who is well regarded on the indie circuit, also on co-writing duties.
The Rental looks genuinely thrilling in part due to its gloomy cinematography and with a psychological horror element that should put audiences on edge while watching.
The film is due for release in theaters and VOD on 24 July 2020.
