The streaming giant’s first foray into animated features tackles the jolly one himself, Santa Claus, in the upcoming film, Klaus.
J.K. Simmons voices Klaus, a white-bearded, giant toymaker who befriends the local town’s postman, Jesper (Jason Schwartzman).
Jesper convinces Klaus to give away his toys, starting off the tradition of Santa Claus delivering toys to lists of children on Christmas.
In the traditional tale, Santa doesn’t have a postman helper (that I’m aware of), so it’s nice to see this variation on the story.
Netflix has smartly chosen the Christmas theme to release their first feature length animated feature, as holiday films tend to do extremely well with audiences, and families especially.
Klaus also, looks like a really fun movie.
The first thing you’ll notice is the incredible animation style, which has a more traditional feel to it.
The story the film tells is also one that all ages of people can get behind, further broadening its appeal.
The film is directed by Sergio Pablos, who was an executive producer on Despicable Me (2010) and Smallfoot (2018) before this.
Rashida Jones and Joan Cusack lend their voices to the supporting cast and you can expect Klaus in theatres from 8 November 2019, before it hits Netflix on 15 November 2019.
