‘Yesterday’ Trailer Reminds the World of the Music of The Beatles in 2019

Acclaimed director Danny Boyle’s latest film Yesterday imagines a world where the music of The Beatles has been forgotten, with one struggling musician looking to capitalise.

After recovering from a cycling accident, Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) wakes up to find that the world has never heard of the music of the iconic band, The Beatles.

The talented musician then goes on to write and re-create the legendary bands’ hits, seeking fame and fortune in process as he goes on to become a music superstar.

His conscience, it appears, looks to get the better of him, however.

Yesterday comes to use from Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle, whose past works include the cult classic Trainspotting (1996), Slumdog Millionaire (2008) and 127 Hours (2010) amongst other notable films.

In what is obviously a labour of love for the director, The Beatles music features prominently in this film, bringing the fab four back into the spotlight in 2019 (like anyone could forget the band ever existed).

The film features a feel-good tone, much like the way The Beatles’ music would make its audience feel.

Newcomer Himesh Patel leads the cast of this fantasy music film that also includes Lily James, Ana de Armas, Kate McKinnon, James Corden, Joel Fry and Ed Sheeran.

The film looks like a really good time going by its first trailer and continues the trend of recent music films, the likes of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018), A Star is Born (2018) and this year’s The Dirt.

See it in cinemas from 28 June 2019.
