Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne play parents to adopted children that get in over their heads in the new comedy ‘Instant Family’.
Pete (Wahlberg) and Ellie (Byrne) decide to start a family by exploring the world of adoption.
Things turn humorous when they decide to adopt a trio of kids, including the rebellious 15-year-old Izzy (Isabela Moner) and her two younger siblings.
Going from no kids to three kids overnight is cause for some hilarious mishaps as the couple have to face instant parenthood, as seen in the trailer.
The film is inspired by actual events from the life of writer/director Sean Anders, who also directed Wahlberg in Daddy’s Home (2015) and Daddy’s Home 2 (2017).
The type of tone and humour featured in Instant Family is very similar to those films, so fans will feel right at home here.
It’s a safe, goofy type of humour that’s suitable for all ages, with an underlying emotional layer.
The film does feel somewhat cliché in terms of its tone, however, films like these are always good value.
Joining Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne in supporting roles are Isabela Moner, Octavia Spencer, Tig Notaro and Margo Martindale.
Instant Family hits cinemas on 10 January 2019.
