Dora (Isabela Moner) faces her toughest challenge yet – high-school – in the trailer for the new film Dora and the Lost City of Gold.

When her parents (played by Michael Peña and Eva Longoria) set out on a mission to discover the fabled Lost City of Gold, without Dora, she’s forced to join the rest of the world and people her age in high-school.

It’s not long, however, before Dora and her high-school buddies are kidnapped and thrust into an adventure joining her parents on the same mission.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold looks like a lot of fun and should appeal to early-teen and pre-teen audiences.

It comes from director James Bobin, whose past films include Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016) and Muppets Most Wanted (2014), as well as directing several episodes on the cult hit TV series Flight of the Conchords.

The film’s lead, Isabela Moner, is also moving up in Hollywood, having recently starred in the films Instant Family (2018) and Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018).

The Dora the Explorer franchise has a huge following worldwide, so the film should raise Moner’s profile even further, potentially turning into a hit for the actress and Paramount Pictures, who a distributing the film.

Temuera Morrison, Benicio Del Toro and Danny Trejo co-star and the film releases on 19 September 2019.
