Marvel’s upcoming sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp sees Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man joined by new character the Wasp, played by Evangeline Lilly.
The film’s trailer features more of what you’d come to expect from a Marvel Studios film; action, adventure, humour and sci-fi fantasy.
It’s the blueprint that’s made Marvel so successful over the last decade, and this one seems to fit right in.
The first Ant-Man (2015) was an entertaining addition into Marvel’s lineup of films, featuring a character we’d yet to see before, and an interesting one at that.
Ant-Man and the Wasp appear to have some new tricks up their sleeve in this sequel, including the ability to shrink and enlarge any object they see fit (technology that was yet to feature prominently in the first film).
This type of new tech makes for some exciting set pieces, of which you’ll see glimpses of in the trailer.
As far as the story goes, not much is given away in the trailer, however expect it to be fairly generic for the most part.
Story aside, the film looks like it should hit the mark on the entertainment value front.
Peyton Reed returns to the director’s chair for this one, and the film stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Douglas.
It’s a great cast (something of which Marvel has always been great at compiling), and combine that with the winning formula Marvel have in place, then Ant-Man and the Wasp should make for a good night out at the cinema.
Check it out when it releases on 5 July 2018 in Australia.
