‘Suspiria’ Remake Casts Chloë Grace Moretz

suspiria remake

She joins Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson in the Suspiria remake, due to be directed by Luca Guadagnino, who most recently directed 2015’s A Bigger Splash.

According to Variety, the remake of the 1977 Giallo-horror genre film has been a passion project of Guadagnino’s for some time and he has been leading the charge to get the project made.

The original film by Dario Argento followed a young ballerina who attends a posh dance studio in Europe, only to discover sinister forces at play behind the scenes.

For horror fans that have yet to see the film, it’s definitely a must-see of the genre, though it might not be to everyone’s tastes.

Suspiria is more of an arthouse horror-flick, with a bit of an unconventional narrative that focuses a lot on sound and visuals to convey its story.

In regards to its audio and visuals though, it definitely hits the mark and has quite obviously inspired a countless number of modern filmmakers, including the likes of Nicolas Winding Refn, who was clearly inspired by Argento’s work in his latest film The Neon Demon (see my review here).

The Suspiria remake is still in early stages of production, however the super-talented Tilda Swinton has signed on for a role, along with Dakota Johnson.

Chloë Grace Moretz is the latest signing in what is a mostly female-led film.

Check out the awesome opening to the 1977 classic below, and be sure to take note of the lighting, colours and sound used in the shots, along with the creepy tone of the film, which is what you can expect to see throughout the original film and likely in the future remake.
