New ‘Star Wars’ Trilogy and TV Series in the Works!

Star Wars film series

Disney is putting some serious faith in director Rian Johnson and The Last Jedi with the announcement of a new film series in the works.

The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has signed a new deal with Disney to develop a new trilogy of films in the Star Wars saga, while also directing the first film the new series.

Kathleen Kennedy and the team over at Disney must definitely see something in the director and his upcoming film, in order to have put their trust in him to develop a new series of films.

This is a good sign that The Last Jedi will be a good follow-up to 2015’s The Force Awakens, as Disney must be very happy with the outcome of the film.

When Disney bought Lucasfilm a few years back it was always expected that we would see an endless run of new Star Wars films, and today’s news confirms it.

Furthermore, news has also come in that a new live action Star Wars TV series is in the early stages of development, and set to debut on Disney’s upcoming dedicated streaming service.

There has been talk of a live action series for years now, so it looks like things are finally picking up steam with this new news.

Again it’s no surprise that Disney wants to expand the beloved Star Wars universe in as many ways as possible, as it’s one of the company’s biggest money-making properties.

The new film and TV series likely won’t release until at least after 2020, but in the meantime we have The Last Jedi to look forward to, which hits cinemas on 15 December 2017.
