‘Split’ – Official 2nd Trailer for New M. Night Shyamalan Film

Night Shyamalan

The second trailer for Split, the M. Night Shyamalan directed thriller has been released, and it looks like it could be a return to form for the director.

James McAvoy’s performance in this looks amazing based on this most recent trailer, as he has to portray a man with 23 different personalities, which is surely a big effort for any actor, though he looks like he has the goods to pull it off.

In Split, McAvoy’s character abducts three girls and keeps them locked up, while revealing different sides of his character to them, and at the same time going through some physical and mental metamorphosis.

We don’t know what he plans to do with his abductees as yet, which is surely where the mystery lies, and knowing Shyamalan’s signature style, there will be at least one big twist in the film.

The director has been on a shocking run over the last few years, though his most recent film, the horror film The Visit, was decent and showed promising signs of the director’s talents, which appear to have dissipated recently.

Split however, if it ends up being good, could be exactly what Shyamalan needs to get his name back on everyone’s lips, but for the right reasons.

And with acquiring the super-talented McAvoy to lead his new film, along with the up-and-coming starlet Anya Taylor-Joy, this looks like one to keep an eye out for.

Check out the 2nd official trailer below.

The official synopsis for the film is as follows:

Though Kevin (James McAvoy) has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley), there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy, The Witch), Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him—as well as everyone around him—as the walls between his compartments shatter apart.
