New ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’ Trailer Drops with ‘Endgame’ Spoilers

The official trailer for Spider-Man: Far from Home has arrived but be warned, watching it will ruin Avengers: Endgame for you if you haven’t seen it yet.

Spoilers for Endgame in this post, too.

Peter Parker (Tom Holland) aka Spider-Man is still reeling from the loss of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) after the events of Endgame as he goes about his regular crime-fighting duties.

While vacationing in Europe with his high-school buddies, Parker is approached by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and asked to confront some devastating, elemental bad guys wreaking havoc on the continent, with the aid of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal).

Mysterio is classically a Spider-Man villain but appears to start off in this film on the good side, though it’s obvious his morals are flexible based on some of what he says in the trailer.

Furthermore, it’s revealed Mysterio is from earth, but not the same earth that Spider-Man and his friends are from, rather an earth set in a different multiverse.

Thanos’s finger-snapping antics in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), as well as the time-travelling events of Endgame, seem to have opened up countless new story-telling opportunities for Marvel and the MCU (the multiverse refers to alternate realities, and a good way to potentially introduce new characters like the Fantastic Four or the X-Men into the MCU banner now that the Disney purchase of Fox is complete).

Despite those new additions and revelations about where the MCU is headed post-Endgame, Far From Home feels like a fairly typical Marvel superhero film.

It’s action-packed as expected and features a teen-romance subplot between Parker and MJ (Zendaya).

It also appears to have the same humour and tone as set in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)which makes sense considering director Jon Watts is back at the helm.

Even though Far From Home doesn’t seem to bring much new to the table based on this new trailer, the inclusion of Jake Gyllenhaal playing a multi-layered villain is something to get intrigued about.

See the film in cinemas from 1 July 2019.
