The Honest Trailers team take on the 1987 action-movie classic Predator, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in one of his most iconic roles.
With Shane Black’s The Predator reboot due out in cinemas this week, it’s only fitting that the team behind the Honest Trailers videos gave the original its own treatment.
No expense is spared when it comes to mocking one of the best action-horror films of the 80’s, and virtually of all time.
Director John McTiernan, the film’s diverse cast, the film’s quiet landscape and a strangely humorous Home Alone (1990) reference all get a mention in the new trailer, without giving too much away.
Schwarzenegger had already broken out in Hollywood by the time Predator came out, though the film did further enhance his star-power.
It went on to become an action classic that spawned a sequel, a reboot and several spin-offs, none of which were received very well.
Shane Black (who also had a small role in the original film) is the latest director to reboot the franchise, with his film The Predator (see the latest trailer here).
The film has received mixed reviews from critics so far, though fan feedback has yet to be determined.
Black is a highly capable director, with films like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), Iron Man 3 (2013), and the outstanding The Nice Guys (2016) to his credit.
But like with any coveted franchise, it’s always going to be hard to please the critics and the fans whenever a new reboot/remake comes around.
The Predator hits cinemas on 13 September 2018.
