The new William Shakespeare biopic All is True sees an outstanding cast that includes Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench and Ian McKellen tell the untold story of the famous poet.
Branagh stars and directs this biopic on the world’s most famous poet and playwright, William Shakespeare.
In the year 1613, Shakespeare, who by then has already been acknowledged as the greatest writer of his time, returns home to make amends with his neglected family after the renowned Globe Theatre burns to the ground.
As we see in the trailer, All is True appears to be a rich character study of the life of (arguably) the most influential writer in human history.
Shakespeare’s popularity and ego had made the man drift apart from his wife, Anne Hathaway (Judi Dench), and daughters.
Branagh’s direction and acting look to be the goods based on the first trailer below, bringing a depth to the character that only an actor with decades of experience can produce.
The same can be said of Dame Judi Dench and Sir Ian McKellen’s portrayal of their characters; two actors whose industry accomplishments need no mention.
The film will likely appeal more to fans of the famous writer as well as literary enthusiasts, though the dramatised human elements of the story have a universal appeal for anyone else that’s willing to give it a go.
All is True arrives in cinemas on 9 May 2019.
