The Scream reboot film is set to introduce the iconic Ghostface serial killer to a new generation of scared teens.
Introduced back in 1996 in Wes Craven’s original film of the same name, Ghostface quickly became one of horror’s most iconic movie monsters.
Scream (1996) terrified horror movie audiences worldwide, calling for multiple, albeit less successful sequels in the years that followed.
In 2022, the famous Ghostface killer is again set to terrify audiences in the new reboot film from directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
Some familiar faces are returning for the reboot, with Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette reprising their roles.
They’re joined by a bunch of fresh new faces, including Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Dylan Minnette, Mikey Madison, Sonia Ben Ammar, and Kyle Gallner.
Judging by the new trailer, Scream essentially feels like any of the other films in the series that have come before it, even calling back to the original’s iconic opening scene.
We can expect to see more of the same teen-slasher-horror movie aspects with a series of new faces to be killed off.
While that doesn’t sound too exciting for anyone looking for original horror, the nostalgia element is always there, so the film should appeal to fans old and new to the series.
Scream is due for release on the 14th of January 2022.
