Ron’s Gone Wrong is a new animated film that sees a boy befriending a quirky best-friend-in-a-box-type robot.
The film features Barney (Jack Dylan Grazer), an awkward middle schooler who’s gifted the ultimate present by his father – a digitally connected robot best friend, whom he christens, Ron (Zach Galifianakis).
However, Ron is defective out of the box, making for a somewhat unique experience, not what is claimed on the box.
Nevertheless, Barney and Ron become inseparable, embarking on a hilarious coming-of-age journey while figuring out the value of friendship.
Ron’s Gone Wrong features a timely story about our obsession with personal technology by taking it further and having the connected device we have with us at all times be our best friend rather than a passive communication device.
The devices we carry essentially are our best friends, with us at all times, helping us to overcome the mundaneness of day-to-day life.
This theme seems to be executed exceptionally well in the film, and there is plenty of laughs in the trailer.
Furthermore, there is a story with heart at the core of Ron’s Gone Wrong, which is unsurprising considering this new animated film is being released by Disney via London animation studio Locksmith Animation.
It’s due for release on 21 October 2021.
