The creepy trailer for Rings, the third instalment in the The Ring horror film series, directed by relative newcomer F. Javier Gutiérrez.
Rings is the story of the evil entity known as Samara, who kills you seven days after watching her horrific video.
That plot sounds a bit ridiculous when you read over it, but was quite inventive when the original Japanese film Ringu by director Hideo Nakata was released in 1998.
That highly rated film went on to spawn a sequel the following year, as well as an English language remake starring Naomi Watts and directed by Gore Verbinski in 2002 which was pretty good.
Nakata then returned to direct the English language sequel as well (The Ring Two, 2005), which was pretty forgettable.
Rings looks like it will be going for a bit of a gross-out horror vibe and the art direction for the horror scenes in this film look terrific, although it’s hard to take anything seriously.
Thankfully we have Vincent D’Onofrio in the film in what appears to be a small role, as he may give the film a bit of credibility.
Rings is due for release on 28 October 2016 in the USA.
