Oscar Isaac and Ben Kingsley star in the historical drama Operation Finale, a film about the hunt for Nazi lieutenant Adolf Eichmann.
The architect behind the Nazi Holocaust, Adolf Eichmann (Ben Kingsley), is on the run post-World War 2 when a team of Israeli spies led by Peter Malkin (Oscar Isaac) are sent to capture and bring him to justice.
Chris Weitz, director of About a Boy (2002), The Golden Compass (2007) and The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009) is at the helm here and the film looks intense.
Looking at the trailer and the tone of the film would suggest something that’s right up Stephen Spielberg’s alley as opposed to a Chris Weitz, so I’ll have to remain cautiously optimistic about this one considering the director’s past films.
Operation Finale does appear to have a lot going for it, however, with one of the most in-demand actors in the lead, and some great co-stars in legendary actor Ben Kingsley, Mélanie Laurent and Nick Kroll, in an uncharacteristically dramatic role.
WW2 and Nazi-themed movies have been done countless numbers of times in the past, so it will be interesting to see what, if anything, will separate this film from the rest.
Operation Finale arrives in cinemas on 14 September 2018, check out the first trailer below.
