Netflix enlists the excellent Korean director Joon-ho Bong for this upcoming sci-fi/comedy/drama original film, featuring Tilda Swinton and Jake Gyllenhaal.
The teaser trailer doesn’t give away too much, though we can see that there are some sci-fi themes of genetic modification between man and animal, as well as a young girl’s quest to stop a multinational corporation from kidnapping her massive animal friend Okja.
As this film is coming from the mind of acclaimed director Joon-ho Bong, we can expect all of the above and a whole lot more.
The director has had a string of great films in his impressive career, that include Snowpiercer (2013), Mother (2009), The Host (2006) and the amazing Memories of Murder (2003).
It’s a super-exciting time for the streaming giant, as their catalogue of Original films is growing at an exponential rate, and the future looks very impressive indeed, especially with the recent news that Martin Scorsese is bringing his latest to Netflix, along with the upcoming David Ayer film Bright (with Will Smith) and now Okja.
Along with these A-list directors comes a string of A-list stars, so expect to get higher quality Netflix Original films in the future.
Check out the teaser trailer below, and if you haven’t yet gotten onto the world of Korean cinema, then I suggest you do fast (if you call yourself a film fan).
