‘The Nice Jedi’ Video Puts a Funny Spin on ‘Attack of the Clones’

The funny video The Nice Jedi mashes the worst film in the Star Wars universe, Attack of the Clones (2002) with Shane Black’s The Nice Guys (2016), and it looks a lot more appealing.

YouTubers Imperator Cuts have come up with a hilarious fan edit of the trailer for Attack of the Clones in the style of the 2016 buddy-cop movie The Nice Guys.

The video imagines Clones as a black-comedy mystery film with Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker as two quirky Jedi on a mission to figure out who was behind the assassination attempt on Padmé’s (Natalie Portman) life.

The reason this style works so well with snippets from Attack of the Clones is thanks to the film’s large amount of corny dialogue and performances.

Clones is widely regarded as the worst film in The Skywalker Saga for those reasons, so seeing it in this light is refreshing.

Shane Black’s criminally underrated film The Nice Guys stars Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as two private investigators whose contrasting personas make for some funny shenanigans as the pair try to solve a murder in 1970s Hollywood.

That film took the classic buddy-cop formula and used to it its full potential, making for an entertaining film full of action and comedy, one that deserves more recognition.
