Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie are back for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, which appears to be more ambitious than the last.
The villainous Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) has escaped capture, forcing Ethan Hunt’s (Cruise) IMF and the CIA to join forces and hunt him down.
There is of course, plenty of double crossing, and Ethan and his team once again end up on the wrong side of a gun barrel.
The classic Mission: Impossible formula appears to be in tact here in this latest instalment, which was to be expected, though it would be nice for the filmmakers to stray from it occasionally.
But then, it wouldn’t be an M:I film would it?
In any case, the action, and more specifically, the stunts look to be as extravagant as ever – and that’s what we’re really paying to see.
Tom Cruise has been leading this franchise for over 20 years now (possibly a first for any actor), and has done his own stunts for each M:I film he’s led (he famously broke his ankle filming a scene for this film).
Christopher McQuarrie and Cruise appear to have lifted their game even further stunts-wise, as you’ll see in the trailer.
Reprising their roles from past films are Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Michelle Monaghan, Alec Baldwin, and Sean Harris (who makes for a fantastic villain).
Newcomers are Henry Cavill, Wes Bentley, Vanessa Kirby, Sian Brooke, and Angela Bassett.
Check out the new trailer below, before the film hits cinemas on 2 August 2018.
